Which you're clearly taking out of context. You're repeating this line without addressing the several other posts I brought up, particularly the one two days later in which he advocated overthrow of the Trump administration and installation of Sanders/Stein, two favorites of liberals.

Now he's trying the "but he was violent before he supported Trump " This is not an excuse he clearly supports Trump and was emboldened by Trumps bigoted message and Trumps actions. And no as Shelly said being and asshole is not a mental illness.

Aside from the fact that he wasn't a Trump supporter, to show that someone was emboldened to be violent by the election, you would need someone without a past history of violence who now becomes violent. This guy has prior convictions for armed robbery and kidnapping.

Yes, SPLC is biased, but more importantly - you say that hate crimes are up, but link to a page about hate groups, not hate crimes. This indicates you don't have evidence that hate crimes are up.

Here's something that's actually about crimes. In New York as of Feb 12, hate crimes were indeed up compared to the prior year, 56 to 31, an increase of 25. You didn't hear a lot about it because when you look at the details, it doesn't fit the emboldened Trump supporter narrative. Crimes against Muslims were even, 2 this year and 2 last. There was only 1 crime against a Hispanic, compared to none last year. Most of the increase - 15 incidents - were against Jews. As Trump's daughter and son-in-law are observant Jews and worked in his campaign and administration, and Trump is pro-Israel, it seems unlikely that the increase resulted from emboldened Trump supporters who just couldn't find a Muslim to harass.
