The polarization is bilateral, and you of all posters here ought to know that. It certainly precedes Trump's presidency. That's what drove the Clinton impeachment attempt, and that's what drove the vitriol against Bush the Younger.
This partisanship is also what will drive the nation into the ground.
Make no mistake, I detest Trump, for reasons of both policy and personality. But both sides practice personal attacks based not on policy but rather on party affiliation.
