When people practice religion moderately and focus on the good scriptures there's not much problem, as far as I'm concerned, beyond the fact they believe something that isn't true.
I have only read a very small part of the Koran so I'm not prepared to make any comments on it.
Are you sure about that gay marriage thing? Gay marriage is absolutely not allowed in Islam (no matter how moderate) and is very much against their culture in general...
