What does Charlottsville have to do with religious freedom?
To answer the OP, it just means that racism is alive and well. I think there will always be racist people in the world, but perhaps better education, discussion, and awareness will help. Simply calling someone a racist and checking out will make it worse I think.
Who does that? Calls someone racist and then checks out? I think this is a strawman claim often used to avoid that very conversation.
Sure, maybe in FB comments you see it, but not on forums such as this, and certainly not in real life. If someone here calls someone out on being racist, it comes with a description of what was done, and often how to possibly avoid that in the future. There is discussion.
Only racist people go, hey dont call me racist, then THEY leave the discussion, all offended, because they aren't open to hearing about their mistakes. Which is a very normal human behavior. I'm just telling you, you have this backwards. It isnt the person pointing out the racism that leaves the disvussion, it's the racist who is offended and habing a hard time hearing someone call out their faults that tends to get huffy and leave the conversation. And if it's the accusers who leave, its after some discussion, not like...accuse then leave. They have points they are trying to make.
We should learn to approach people on the internet in a more gentle, unaggressive mannor, the way we would in real life. Not so harsh. Without the social cues of face to face conversation, it can be difficult.
