"Flock" was another word he hated. He equated that to treating humans like farm animals to be fleeced or slaughtered. But the truth of antiquity, and not just in monotheism, unless you were part of the warrior/ruling class, you were a "subject" basically the property of that ruling family so yea, a "flock".
Mega preachers do "take care" of their flock, which is why they live in huge mansions while their followers cant pay their bills.
