It's definitely a trend for young progressive people to try and silence anything to the right, or even nuanced positions on the left. More or less, they've bought into this idea that they are morally obligated to do whatever it takes to stand up to evil.

Unless the evil might have a nuke. Then you can starve your whole country, rape and murder all the people you want. Just please don't hurt us!

It all has a very phony feel to it.
