If a boy joined a girl's sports team and won, and he got to go to the girl's championship instead of the girl who was second behind him, I don't think people would like it too much. Understandably. Isn't this a bit of a double standard?
I am a fan of women's sports, and some guy's sports. I'm a 41yo guy, so take it for what it is. I do actually favor the separation of genders where applicable (title of competition, mainly). A few years ago, back in Pennsylvania, there was some controversy in girl's field hockey, IIRC, where one HS team had three boys on it, because there was no boy's team. That actually makes me cringe. Women should be entitled to their own teams, full stop. At SDSU, we have men's golf and women's golf. Separate. And pretty good. Women don't have to try out for men's teams. Some females like to, I understand that. But I feel like if I were female, I'd want to be on an all-female team, and entering in boys' tourneys would be settling for something less, even if I won.
But, I'm a just a guy who likes women's sports at least equally to men's.
