I'm in a kinda sorta relationship that I know will be over in May and it's beautiful and I love it. Perfect for the time and place, them we will both move on and have only positive memories of one another. I think people idealize long term relationships/love too much and get themselves stuck with somebody they eventually do not feel the same way about.
This is another religious influence that isn't talked about much. It's so pervasive and common that it is overlooked; even in the atheist community the religious influence on sexuality is still practiced. This is and will be a big hurtle to get past I think.
I think my generation has created a "hook up culture" with things like Tinder, which counters that. If you're interested in a long term thing it's not like it's disappearing, there are ALWAYS people looking for that. But we've created an alternative. I don't really like one night stands, but I would like to be intimate with several people over the course of my life, for the same reason i want to travel as much as I can over the course of my life. I don't think it's natural to be with one partner for 30, 40, 50 years. My opinion might change as I age and I'm not as hot hahaha.
