I would never, under any circumstances, cause the death of my own child to save others. For a god to resort to such a sorry and despicable tactic is sufficient in my eyes to disqualify it as a source of goodness and love.
The only circumstances under which I am prepared to take a life is a direct, real-time takedown of someone who is putting me or other people in imminent danger (for instance, someone attacking with a lethal weapon). Even so, I would rather disable and disarm than kill.
Your alleged god, supposedly capable of creating an entire universe, is without excuse. Substitutionary atonement and hell are both epic moral failures.
