The irony is that I took three courses in high school geared toward getting my CNA. Looking back, it's obvious opting out of taking the CNA test was the wrong move.
Shit happens, and we take all kinds of twisted ways in our careers. I wanted to be an electronics tech in the US Navy, but I had mechanical aptitude from my father making me work on his vehicles, and I got a really good score on the mechanical aptitude test, so I got stuck in the engine room on Navy ships. I qualified for the electronics ratings, but the mechanical ratings have a lot of turnover (because the jobs really suck, and they don't re-enlist!), so that's how I got into it- they needed bodies.
