I don;t see him speaking passionately about free trade now, either, just noting that russia is the constant beneficiary of Mad King MAGA's "america first" nonsense.

Yeah, because we are adding tariffs against China, because of less free trade. That's what happens when you start adding tariffs. I have a feeling though, if Bernie Sanders were president and doing the a similar tariff policy, we wouldn't be seeing these threads.

I don't know how that's not advocating for free trade though? Min obviously is. What else would you call it?

I think..Cap, you might have been imagining protectionists were there were none.  You referenced the bernieites earlier..for example..but Min was never one of those poor fuckers, lol.

There are troglodyte protectionists, and out and out free traders whose may have a hidden agenda of profiting from shady practices while preventing these from being regulated, all in the name of free trade.   But in between there are many different shades and subtle gradations.

So throwing the term protectionist or free traders around really illuminates nothing.

No. Libertarians may tend to be for freer international trade, there are many other positions they tend to advocate that can be obnoxious to other people who are for different principles also supportive of freeer international trade.

It is childish rethorical strategum, but one sadly accurately calibrated for the level of judgement commonly seen in Americans electorates, to lay sole claim to a creditable position that is by no means unique to one’s own political camp, and then implies inconsistency in others if they were to support this position while oppose the camp’s other positions.

I'll make a mental note that you guys are free-traders to one degree or another for the future. I'm not in anyway denying it, just surprised is all.
