"If someone is gay and he searches for the lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"
-Pope Francis, 2013
I still laugh when I read that quote. I was surprised to hear a pope say that. The conservative old coots behind the scenes at the Vatican were probably surprised too, to say the least. I think Succubus is right - Francis is very likely watching his back to avoid getting stabbed or poisoned, for real.

It's obvious the neither the Pope, the cardinals, the bishops, nor any other Catholic has ever read their favorite ethnocentric Middle Eastern Jewish religious fairy tale. If they had maybe just one of them would have came across this little jewel =
1 Corinthians 5:11-13 (TPT) = "11 But now I’m writing to you so that you would exclude from your fellowship anyone who calls himself a fellow believer and practices sexual immorality, or is consumed with greed, or is an idolater, or is verbally abusive or a drunkard or a swindler. Don’t mingle with them or even have a meal with someone like that. 12–13 What right do I have to pronounce judgment on unbelievers? That’s God’s responsibility. But those who are inside the church family are our responsibility to discern and judge. So it’s your duty to remove that wicked one from among you."
