I've tried to believe, which is something entirely different. Either something makes sense or it doesn't. One of the most uncomfortable feelings I've had was realizing that I had wasted ten years of my life in a religious group, going through the rituals but never able to wholeheartedly believe even for an instant that it was actually true.
I don't do stuff like that to myself anymore. I'd rather be a faithless but authentic lone wolf than an insincere sheep.
We choose whether we are honest or not about a subject.
And we choose to be stubborn or not when something is proven.
And we choose to follow things on conjecture or not.
And we choose to mix truth with falsehood, or just hold on to truth.
All these are decisions we make.
And we choose the level of knowledge we have by how much we strive for it.
And the striving has to be by how much we believe it's worthy to strive for knowledge, and the heart of that, is how much we choose to love and value God.
One of these things is not like the other ones....
Can you tell which one?
