All those 'former gays' are either fucking liars (not surprising given how much lying religious types do) or they're Bisexual or they've returned to the closet.
It wouldn't be impossible to change being gay to avoid torture, but very hard to do so. It's like if my favorite food is something, I can change that, but not on threat of torture.
It takes a understanding of the true nature of the self and what it means to human... and then struggle to change the impulses in beginning, open your idea to change, and you need a power to change from God and you have to believe it's wrong and their has to be a sense of guilt mixed with compassion for oneself as well.
This how all former gays explain their path at least from what I've read and as well have seen on youtube videos.
