Whether there are benefits or not though, I just wanted to see gay people get the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. Now that it has happened, and all the slippery slope nonsense hasn't happened, nor has the destruction of society, I wish the bigots would at least be gracious losers here.
The state has a compelling interest in marriage. It;s economically sound, and secures a future tax base. Yes, it;s possible to scam what few married benefits there actually are...but it;s unlikel;y that any significant number of people do so such that the grift outweighs the net gain.
