Absolutely, yes. I should have made clear that I was talking from a moral perspective. Understanding sexuality as a whole is very important, and shouldn't be oversimplified.
I think the "born that way" defense is something of a stop-gap. It only applies to people who think there's something inherently inferior or even immoral about homosexuality, and this argument tells them that they "can't help it". Once people generally stop being bigots in the first place, the argument won't be needed or even make sense anymore.
