I think you can only get so close to a universal health care system when most Americans skew conservative ideologically. It was a miracle the ACA was even passed. A system like Canada's is still too socialist for us to stomach. The left (the actual left, not conservative Dems) have only recently found their footing (barely).
I didn't think the ACA was best, but it was better than before. And its provisions are the reason I can afford necessary medications.
