You believe that the money that isn't being paid to federal employees is being held in an interest bearing account? It's not. The only people that are going to earn interest on the withheld money is some federal contractors who are going to be owed interest on missed payments.  The government is losing money on this shutdown in many ways. And firing 50,000 nonessential workers is unlikely to happen.

it's already been anounced to those 50,000, if you do not show up to work you are gone. google it. if this thing last long enough most will be forced to find another job. and another 60 to 70% of our taxes are held by the federal reserve and issued out when congress budgets the year/period. you can bet your sweet bippy that the government is indeed making interest on their holdings where it be through federal note loans or through trade the reserve has much more to play with for longer now that it is not writing a billion checks a day

The Democrats aren't going to budge because Trump is taking the majority of the blame for the shutdown.

blame is pointless here as both sides agree to not work together. the problem with that (and people will later see) is that trump is going to get what he wants either way and will also full fill another campain promise along the way, which means all the suffering short sighted nacy caused by not working with trump prooves she is a ineffective leader who was not only fooled by trump but played by him to take responsibility for all of this while he again gets what he wanted to begin with.

Heat is being turned up on senate Republicans. It is possible that this might actually end with Trump's veto being over ridden.

this would be the weak link in the chain, but you also have to remeber alot of the republicans who hold a seat in the senate do so because of trump and many of the others kept their seats because of trump. I thin the real crisis is being generated and held in the hearts and minds of those who still get the majority of their news from the fake media. granted I'm sure you can dig up some federal employee who lost the farm and will blame trump, but again so what. The majority of his support understand what is going on because we get it directly from him, not just the crazy headlines the news wants you to see but the underlining stuff most of your douche bags will never know because the news will not want you to see his plan or how it all is to work out.

That would be an absolute disaster for Trump, since it would completely undermine his legitimacy in the Republican Party. A credible fear that his veto might not stand would probably be enough to make a sane person relent. Trump can't win this. Even if Pelosi and Schumer give him the money for the wall, it will look more like a coup by alt-right pundits than a victory for Trump.

how many years after his 2nd term is over will you guys be singing trumps a disaster/joke song? everything he does according to you guys is the final step that he has now failed or his desision is his last and on and on and on without anything to show for it.

Trump shut down the government because he is setting nacy up for a h-UGE political fall. give it time sport. he is playing her like he played the media throughout his campaign. Remember he was supposed to apologize to obama at his grand opening of the new hotel on penn ave in DC got every new agency on the planet out there he went through a whole grand opening spiel about the billions spend and how nice everything was and at the end of everythig said something "sorry obama i was misinformed" or something like that.. In essence he tricked the media in spending tens of millions of dollars in covering his grand opening in world wide coverage of this new hotel of his.. for nothing.. This russia investigation, this shut down it's all part of a bigger play to 'drain the swamp.'

We know that he intended to sign the spending bill that was unanimously passed by the senate. We know that he vetoed the bill after being ordered to do it by talk show hosts.

Again the only think he was in 5 billion for this wall which is less than 1% of the total budget.. I do not understand the big deal. Trump wants less than one percent to make us safer, why not give it to him? Did you know the very same people denying trump this money voted for a wall under obama just a few years ago? Trump made it affordable and now they don't want it. when it was 50 trillion dollars nearly everyone voted yes even clinton, but now that trump made deals and brough down the cost... the dims say no.. why? what changed?

If it were just a policy disagreement between congressional Dems and the president, either side could budge a little bit. But this is about Trump taking orders from Coulter, Beck, and Limbaugh. The puppet is either going to cut his strings or be hung on them.

In the media trump favors fox and friends in the morning which is like a goofy morning show and hannity which i follow and he does favor the shut down but agree/slams trump for how he is rubbing people even his base the wrong way.

You guys really are honestly way waaay off base here.

From the beginning when these guys even hanity did not like trump. hannitty was a rubio or jeb man. limbaugh was an establishment guy as well. no one thought trump had a chance and now that he is in office they all relunctly fall in, and when things don't go smoothly like with this shut down they all bail and like the fake news on your side start to predict is doom and gloom, till one of them kind coined the phrase let trump be trump. he doesn't do things the typical way which is what resonates with the people, we cant predict this man no how his actions will lay out, if they could on either side his victory would not have been so upsetting to somany they cried sweet sweet tears on national tv..

Nancy claims you do not have the votes in the senate if we did pass the bill, trumps counters you do not have the votes to pass the senate with any bill you produce without 5 billion for the wall (agan 5 billion less than 1% of total budget.
