In any case, I don’t think we’ll ever arrive at anything resembling a point when the original contention reduces to the belief that there’s no point in a border if you’re not going to deport people.  

They’re territorial claims on resources, not an excuse for pointless cruelty.

The GOP and Trump started this shit and they AND ONLY THEY are responsible for this mess. Not going to be polite to anyone ignore that. What Trump and the GOP are doing is cruel. And while many like to claim it is not the same as WW2 Germany, all I would argue is this is how shit like that starts. Humans become immune to that cruelty, and that grows like weeds, and like boiling a lobster slowly, eventually that cruelty destroys an open society.

How anyone can look at the videos of the cramped cages and think that is acceptable is insane. Nobody is saying never deport. But you don't sell the politics of fear of others, and that is what Trump does and it is dangerous.
