What are the reasons someone would choose abortion over adoption? Its a big decision and i want to make sure i understand it. As a guy I can only guess.
1. Pregnancy and birth are dangerous to the health of the woman.
2 Pregnancy and birth permanently alter a woman's body.
3. Pregnancy and birth can cause mental and emotional problems, even under otherwise healthy circumstances.
4. A woman may not want to give up her bodily autonomy.
5. She may not want to be a life support system for the fetus.
I am sure I am probably missing some more.
More reasons:
6. People born in the 1st world, especially the US, are 16 times more harmful to the environment than people born in 2nd and 3rd world countries. A woman may not want to bring a child into the world to add even more to environmental damage, even if she isn't going to be the parent.
9. There is a very real possibility, that climate change will cause major: famines, poverty, weather related disasters, floods, etc, etc. A woman may not want to bring a child, even if she is not going to be the parent, into such a world.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
