Yes, you are. The position that abortions should be banned is nothing less than telling people what to do under penalty of criminal enforcement. You don't have to know anything, at all, about the reasons a person might have an abortion to understand this. No matter what their reasons, and no matter what you feel about those reasons, it remains a fact that banning abortion only increases the number of victims and misery.
If your goal and motivation, if your justification for such a position is the reduction of harm to people, then banning abortion is flatly counterproductive to that goal. It shouldn't take ten years to understand this, and it has nothing to do with atheism.

I had a look and to be fair there are articles and studies that say there is a link between abortion and poor mental health and there are some that say otherwise.
Take the first link u put up. It is very detailed and cites many studies. It basically says that its a mix bag of results
https://www.apa.org/pi/women/programs/ab...health.pdf
On one hand there is this statement
"Task Force on Mental Health and Abortion concludes that the most methodologically sound research indicates that among women who have a single, legal, first-trimester abortion of an unplanned pregnancy for nontherapeutic reasons, the relative risks of mental health problems are no greater than the risks among women who deliver an unplanned pregnancy"
On the other hand there was this statement
"In these analyses, women who had one or more abortions prior to age 21 had a significantly higher number of total psychiatric disorders by age 25 than women who had delivered or had never been pregnant by age 21. This study thus suggests that women who have one or more abortions at a young age (<21) are at greater relative risk for psychiatric disorder compared to women who deliver a child at a young age or women who do not get pregnant at a young age."
Then in this link u added...
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6207970/
Like the other study the results are mixed
- "(a) There are no findings of mental health benefits associated with abortion.
- (b) The association between abortion and higher rates of anxiety, depression, substance use, traumatic symptoms, sleep disorders, and other negative outcomes is statistically significant in most analyses.
- © The minority of analyses that do not show statistically significant higher rates of negative outcomes do not contradict those that do"
They all agree that some women have negative experiences due to having an abortion. It's the extent of that which is unclear.
So from these studies both sides design and release many propaganda posters... They both milk it

That line just reminds me of... "How Dare You"...
Anyway it is what it is. Abortion is alive and well in the west
Most U.S states allow it right up until birth and allow partial birth abortion
Someone suggested I had a look and learnt about abortion procedures.
I already knew this but I would make the same suggestion to everyone else, watch the videos at least.
As i said in my original comment the matter is unclear and there is evidence the damage is negligible. So this isn't a good argument against abortion .And again appeals to emotion are not a good argument either

What are the reasons someone would choose abortion over adoption? Its a big decision and i want to make sure i understand it. As a guy I can only guess.
Because it means remaining pregnant which is a state the woman does not wish to be in and has vey right to change

Could be it's valid reason
Quote:She might be pressured by her family or the guy
That is an objection to forced abortion which is wrong
Quote:Maybe if she doesn't want to carry the child and give birth to it
Again totally valid
Quote:She might not want to have her child out there somewhere with other parents, never see him again
his trauma is very real

Who is the 'they' that would want to make it legal to kill a baby up to six month? Who are 'these guys' you think would support it?

1. Pregnancy and birth are dangerous to the health of the woman.
2 Pregnancy and birth permanently alter a woman's body.
3. Pregnancy and birth can cause mental and emotional problems, even under otherwise healthy circumstances.
4. A woman may not want to give up her bodily autonomy.
5. She may not want to be a life support system for the fetus.
I am sure I am probably missing some more.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

More reasons:
6. People born in the 1st world, especially the US, are 16 times more harmful to the environment than people born in 2nd and 3rd world countries. A woman may not want to bring a child into the world to add even more to environmental damage, even if she isn't going to be the parent.
9. There is a very real possibility, that climate change will cause major: famines, poverty, weather related disasters, floods, etc, etc. A woman may not want to bring a child, even if she is not going to be the parent, into such a world.

A woman might be in the middle of education and thus not in a position to deal with the disruption caused by pregnancy.
Her partner may have evicted her onto the streets the moment he found out she was pregnant.
Frankly whatever the reason it would be a matter for her (and possibly her partner) not for idle gossips in the bus stop.

Clearly, the BEST reason to stop a woman from having an abortion is that she wants one.

One thing I've noticed as I've risen up the career ladder is there are a lot of very talented/skilled women in the lower ranks of businesses. However over time these reduce as they are forced to choose between their careers and starting a family. This can often strip organisations of their best personnel and it increases in frequency as you move up an organisation.
