Have you got some kind of Christian backgound?
#3
RE: Have you got some kind of Christian backgound?
My dad and his family were/are Catholic. Mom's side mostly Methodist. In order for them to marry in the eyes of The Church mom had to agree that any kids born to them would be raised Catholic. *she was 16 at the time so I doubt a tremendous amount of thought was put into the decision*

As a little kid I went to Catechism classes until we moved to dad's hometown where all the schools except the kindergarten were Catholic schools.

We were put through the paces and the sacraments as expected but religion wasn't really a big deal within our family other than presenting the appearance of being good mass-attending and tithing Catholics so as to appease dad's Catholic clients...and most of them were Catholic.

My sister and I are atheist and my brother did the church thing to get the price break for his son's middle and high school education at Catholic schools.

edit - shortly before my dad's death he told me he was an atheist and had been for quite a while.
