WS gonna ws...and that means memes nowadays. That's part of the effort to normalize and recruit.
That's always been the case, not just with ws, but supremacists of any kind. They express their bigotry in culturally approved ways that grant them greater purchase in community spaces and more access to disaffected potential recruits. For most white supremacists, white supremacy wasn't what got them into white supremacy. It was some other piece of bait.
Notions of discrimination, rights abrogation, stigmatization and the denial of pride, loss of self esteem...or racial elimination. The ws movement found very fertile ground in the crop of racially apathetic people we intentionally raised and conditioned.
Hey buddy, guy, friendo - have you been held down by the man? What if I told you the man was black.
Hey buddy, guy, friendo - are you concerned about your freeze peaches? So are we, and also, have you heard what the queers are doing to the soil?
Hey buddy, guy, friendo - ever been made to feel ashamed of your heritage? It's okay to be white.
Hey buddy, guy, friendo - do the girls keep telling you no? We have girls. Girls Girls Girls!
It's not going to be hard for us to think of people we know, specifically white males between 16 and 26, who are likely to be interested in one of those streams of thought above. That's their target audience...and the way to reach that audience is through social media, and memes. The thing that might seem strange to the average AF member...is that the most recently productive and notable field for white supremacist cabbages, has been the online skeptic movement.
Hardly a problem that we can solve by ignoring it...but I don't think that we can effect positive change by self segregation, either. It hasn't gone well for the native res model, for example. Stepping out of the larger culture, whatever it's reactionary merits may be and regardless of the strength of any justification based on the inequity of that larger culture just doesn't seem to produce positive outcomes. More often, it serves the interests of apathy and antipathy. It's much easier to memory hole and demonize people who've decided to go their own way.
