Since the man was plainly obsessed with violence - regardless of what he was actually charged with - the presence of weapons in the van seems germane to the story. Lawn mowing and mum’s birthday aren’t really relevant to a story about a man with fantasies about murder, child rape and mass killings, so no, I wouldn’t report them.
Again: would leaving the guns out of the story entirely be biased journalism?
