What meaningful difference is there between forgiving student loans and forgiving auto loans? The end result is financially the same for the individual: Less debt.
Unfortunately, I don't follow political debates enough to know what it all entails. But unless the reform is to make education free, and unless that change is implemented first, then what does forgiving student loans do besides buying votes?
And if your intent is to bribe, then at least offer auto and mortgage alternatives for those who don't have student debt. It'll make your constituents lives better all the same.

If that's what was being proposed, it absolutely WOULD be a bribe. But what is on the table is, 'We'll give you this money whether or not you give us your vote.'

If you have 2 uncles - and one gives you lavish presents and one gives you squat - which is going to be your favorite uncle?
Not calling it a bribe doesn' t make it not a bribe.
But keep trying... It' s cute when you defend one side and would blast the other for the exact same offense...
