You seem to want the cops to be something more than human.
Cops DO risk their lives all the time for people who are unable or unwilling to defend and or help themselves.
To expect another human being to rescue you when you get in trouble because you are unwilling to protect yourself is selfish and cowardly.
To expect another human being to arrest drunk drivers or shut down a meth lab or chase smash-and-grabbers is unreasonable. The case could be made that in every one of these cases, cops could be in danger of losing their lives.
If law enforcement personnel have no legal obligation to enforce laws (which is what YOU claimed), why have them at all?
I hardly think wanting cops to do what they’ve sworn to do is expecting them to be more than human.
