As an atheist, my greatest, fondest hope is to live forever, in Heaven, in eternal, endless bliss. But, alas, such is not in the cards; when our brains die, our conscious minds perish in irrecoverable annihilation, death being an endless, dreamless sleep. Wishing things to be different does not necessarily make it so.
Enjoy and live life to the fullest; make every day your last, for you'll enjoy exactly one and only one last perfect day.
You see I'm the exact opposite, eternal life means eternal suffering, I don't believe in heaven or hell, though I do believe in a form of reincarnation if you can even call it that, whatever expression of the cosmos I am in the next life though, that's not going to be me, but the suffering will endure for eternity. If only we're so lucky to be in an eternal sleep.
