We can perform some tasks. For instance, if I picked up my clarinet in a totally dark room I'd be able to take it out of the case, assemble it, set the reed, and play something - but only because I've been playing clarinet for 19 years, and because I'm receiving feedback on the tactile and audio channels of my brain.
I would not even think of trying to cut a piece of wood in the dark, even with a small non-powered hand saw, and despite the fact that I've been cutting pieces of wood since I was eight years old. It poses a physical risk, and without the visual feedback I'd be unable to take precise measurements.
