If the Church isn't bad, why does it go to great lengths to cover up these abuses instead of turning the abusers over to the secular authorities? An organization - ANY organization - that is knowingly complicit in sexual abuse and kidnapping IS a 'bad' organization, by definition.

If the abuse was an incredibly rare thing I can almost see trying to cover it up. But it's not rare. It's common enough for the Church to play musical parishes with its priests to try to hide it...they don't remove the priest from a position of authority...they give him a whole new set of potential victims.
The leaders of the church are complicit...period...full stop. They have worked quite diligently in figuring out how to cover up the abuse.
