Brian Boru:
Sorry for my typing errors. I meant that Gandhi lived in the 20th century. Had he lived around the birth of Jesus inside the borders of the Roman Empire he would not just be assassinated by some religious fanatic. He would have probably shared the faith of Spartacus or Jesus of Nazareth.
I wanted to emphasize the fact that humanity is gradually evolving. We don’t enslave or defeated enemies and force them to fight for our entertainment nowadays do we?
Ivan Denisovich:
Here is the arrival of Greta Thunberg at the Athens Airport today:
I wrote this in another thread. Yesterday some of the Activists of the Sumud Flottila who were detained by the IDF landed at the Istanbul Airport. Political Islamists turned the whole thing into some sort of Muslim Unity show. They did exactly what the current Israeli Government wanted them to do. They displayed scenes of solidarity with their brothers in faith (with a lot of bearded men wearing Kufis and women wearing two or three layers of Hijab) and chanted slogans like “death to Israel”
So as a response to your comment: This isn’t how we can solve it. Look at the Greeks and the Greek activists in the video. We need to recognize our differences and act as one body as human beings.
I am truly moved by the courage of all these activists and their supporters all across the world.
And I am angry with the political islamists who seem to be still believing in a Hamas / Hezbollah type of solution. Well that’s the opposite of the solution for me. Hamas and Hezbollah supporters should go fishing with Netanyahu and his cabinet and leave the rest of us alone (That’s how I think).
Brian Boru:
- Yes. As we are walking on this path toward a more civilized and peaceful world, some people are displaying ever greater ingenuity in finding ways to take us back to where we were perhaps some 500 years ago.
But I will quote Gandhi once again: This world has seen many dictators and tyrants. Yet all of them were defeated. Not one of them prevailed. Isn’t that really deep?
Denisovich:
Jews were kicked out of their land by the Roman Emperor Titus. And they were allowed to return there by the Brits some 2000 years later. Just by reading these two phrases anyone can understand that the situation is messed up from the beginning. But we have brains you know. We can solve this problem as we are able to solve many other problems.
Grand Nudger:
In the course of miracles it says “Do not underestimate the vengeance of the Ego”.
This is a phenomenon that is well known by spiritual people. Both on a personal level, and on a societal level, there are occasions in which setbacks are experienced. But this doesn’t change our overall progress toward a more rational and civilized world.
See: To those ultra nationalist Jews the only solution is to murder those they see as “the enemy”. And to political islamists the only solution is to destroy Israel. So should we just sit back and see which one prevails over the other? (As we have been doing since 75 years?).
Many people simply disagree with that. We both believe that other solutions are possible and we want these solutions to be implemented as soon as possible.
