According to old magic book, god explicitly commanded a genocide then punished his chosen people for failing to fully carry it out. Seems like god, if there were a god, would have all the power. Seems like we lowly human worms would be defenseless against his whims. Turns out both things are false...or? Who knows, maybe that was a bad day for the big guy all around. That's a Big Bad...but god doesn't seem to be constrained to being an ass about stuff like that, the guy will get downright petty too. Turned some poor lady into a pillar of salt for having the audacity to look back on the home she was forced to flee in dead of night? Had a bear maul some kids for calling a guy bald? Struck a guy dead on the spot for trying to keep his stupid ark from tumbling out of a rickety ox cart? I mean..the whole ordeal started over some business about a fruit......didn't contain himself to the couple...cursed the ground - made having kids hurt, invented thorns and weeds.......oh, and death.
I know, he became a newer more loving god at some point. Casually racist, a fig hater, a pig hater, setting brother against brother...talking in riddles to keep the wrong sort of people from being forgiven™, got everyone riled up about the end of the world before fucking off for 2k years and counting.
We're either talking about the worlds first and best asshole, or the man has a deplorably shitty pr department...in his infallibility.
