How much trouble do you think they go through? Looks to me like the only trouble they go through is when jackasses threaten to hang them, how unfortunate would that situation be?

-realizes at this point the severity of the situation, but unfortunately also realizes that they do not posess any secret which would satisfy the douchebag standing before them. Perhaps they would be completely willing to spill the beans, if only they had any beans to spill-

(and yes Mehm, when a group finds itself on the opposite end of your scimitar, that's reason enough to side with them, at least until they aren't staring down the barrel of your poorly aimed weapon)
