Ugh. Indeed. And for those who didn't read the article, this comes from Fr. John Ehrich, the head of Bishop Olmstead's medical ethics committee, and hopefully someone who knows a thing or two about, you know, medicine:

So ... if the mother is going to die thanks to some kind of condition she has that the pregnancy is aggravating, you still can't terminate the pregnancy ... because two dead people (to use the Catholic Church's definition that a fetus = a person) are better than one?
Dead women can't carry pregnancies to term. That fetus is doomed no matter what. But who am I kidding ... dead women are the Catholic Church's favorite kind.
