That the universe couldn't have gotten here on its own is something you need to support.

The idea of spontaneous generation that was refuted was the notion that complex living organism could arise spontaneously, like maggots from garbage not being the product of flies laying eggs but a product of decomposition. It has nothing to do with your claim here.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: It couldn't have always been here. That to, would be impossible according to science.
The only thing science has established regarding the universe having always been here is that it has not always been here in this form, prior to the current form it was in a hot dense state, and no one knows what really happened before that. The universe may have always existed in one form or another forever for all we know.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: Therefore, the only possible answer would be that something else would have had to have created it. What's the only thing that could do that?
M-brane collision. Quantum fluctuation. Collapse of the previous universe. Spawned by a black hole in another universe. Something we haven't thought of yet. A conscious being, perhaps a physicist with an advanced laboratory, a gamer with a computer that can simulate universes, or a God is a conceivable possibility, but not being able to positively rule it out is a very weak argument for it.

It probably takes a lot of power to create a universe, but I don't see why you'd need ultimate power. We may be able to do it ourselves in a few decades.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: What's the only conceivable thing with ultimate power?
Something imaginary.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: God.(or many, but that's a discussion for another time.) Well you might be thinking, how did God get here, then? Well, what's the only thing with the ability to create itself?
Virtual particles. Probably universes.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: Something with ultimate power. What's the only conceivable thing with ultimate power? God. Therefore, God is 100% real and He must have created the universe.
How can something have ultimate power before it exists?
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: That is a big claim I just made, and as such it requires scientific accreditadion.
Good on you for recognizing that.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: So, here you go. William Lane Craig, a scientist uses basic logic to show how a God must have created the universe in his version of the Kalam cosmotologial arguement:
1.Whatever begins to exist has a cause.
2.The universe began to exist.
3.Therefore, the universe has a cause.
But, but...WLC isn't qualified to give scientific accreditation! And the only things we've ever observed to begin to exist (virtual particles) DON'T have a cause! And we don't know that the universe began to exist! Are you TRYING to find the worst argument possible?
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: What is the only thing with the power necessary to create the universe, the ultimate power?
Quantum fluctuations, black holes, M-brane collisions, and fictional characters.
(June 1, 2012 at 9:49 pm)Dingaling Wrote: A God. So, undoubtabley there is a God and He created the universe.
If I wasn't already an atheist, your argument would have made me one.
Yes, I know he's a banned sockpuppet, but let me have my fun.
