No, I would not. All that suggests is some atheists will disagree and some atheists will agree with the view you asserted and you'd be correct in that being the case.

Yes they can have atheistic views but they are not labelled atheists. They are labelled by the beliefs they do have before the ones they don't. I've repeated this over and over but it doesn't seem to penetrate.

We've already agreed upon the other definition of religion covered by your quote. I'm not interested in that. What I'm interested in persuing is your other interesting point: that atheism, LIKE consumerism, can be a persuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance to. ie atheism is the new religion.

Am I going to have to explain what a comparison is? Is that where we're at? That I actually have to explain to you consumerism and atheism is comparable to religion but isn't actually religion? If I say a chicks hot I don't actually mean shes of an elevated temperature but that is a use of the word hot.
