Good luck with that...
OK. Now please answer the question somebody.

Christ gave up His perfect being by becoming a man, He suffered physical pain as a man, He experienced hunger and thirst, He experienced being tired and so much more, yet these were not all the parts of the sacrifice. Like others have said, being crucified was the worst death of the times, Christ probably suffered as much from the beating as He did from hanging on the cross, the cross is where He died and this is why we call it the sacrifice. However the real sacrifice was having all the sins past, present and future placed upon Him, this was what killed Him, He was unable to bear that heavy burden. Christ being perfect for all eternity had to become sin (out of relationship with the Father) the Trinity had never been separated until this point, they had always been together in fellowship. All these things and more that we will not know in this life are the sacrifices that Christ made to save anyone who would accept what He did for them.

Thanks, GC. To be fair, it's completely understandable how Minimalist would come to the conclusion that the text was teaching the world is flat like a pancake, rather than round like a basketball. The Catholic Church of Galileo's day came to the same conclusion. The text could be clearer.
Actually I do not think the people of the time had trouble with the way things were referred to they understood what was being said, these people were not stupid as Min would have them, and I'm referring to all people of the time not just the Jews.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
