The bible, for example shows tons of examples of people who, while alive and sane, became rationally convinced that God exists. So much so, that even on THEIR ''deathbed'' (while being tortured) they did not alter their testimony.

Same reasons the Egyptian Pharohs went to war fighting for their sun god. Same reason the Greeks and Romans went to war for their gods. Same reason 19 hijackers slammed planes into buildings. You can truely believe something and still be wrong.
So when someone claims a book whose central super hero was born of a virgin when science says it takes two sets of DNA I call bullshit on it. The fact that Christians went to war and started the Dark Ages and Inquisition and had witch hunts, happened. Those people truely beleived they were committing harm to other people for the greater good. But that never made virgin births real.
