Not the precise causes, no, but we DO know it IS instigated by forces other than personal choice since there are a lot of underlying factors and similarities outside of personal experiences. Glandular and genetic similarities that are almost unanimously exact, similar environmental factors. Things that lie outside of going "You know what, I think I just like those who are my gender" one day.

Maybe not the New Testament for you but something of it. The Torah, perhaps. Something Abrahamic, certainly.
