Argument from Authority is a fallacious argument under one of two conditions:
1. Authority is not an authority in the area discussed (i.e. Newton was a Christian and he was a brilliant physicist so Christianity must be true).
2. Argument is said to be true ONLY because of the say-so of an authority with no evidence provided.
In the second instance, "cause I said so" is never a good argument even for a respected expert. Even experts are required to provide evidence for why they believe what they do.
Example: I don't believe in evolution because Richard Dawkins says so. I believe in evolution because of the supporting evidence.
