yeah.... my ignorant parents were a part of the revolution, so yeah... there's that.
And yes, in those days, before 1974, a LOT of portuguese people did move out. That's why you have strong portuguese communities in the US, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, etc...
But that's different.... When the government doesn't have the backing of, at least, the majority of the people (and the military) then it cannot stand.
We're talking about a standard democratic country, the UK. If you don't like the policy of the current government, you vote for the other guys first chance you get. That's how democracy works.
But these muslims are wanting the government to impose a restriction on one of the most fundamental rules of democracy: free speech.
That's something the UK, nor any other european country, will ever abide by, regardless of which party is ruling the country.
It is a hopeless proposition with no practical outcome, except getting us to talk about it.... or maybe there's a hidden agenda we're not seeing...?
