As with Christianity, there is one unforgivable sin in the GOP.
Apostasy.
Other than that, you can lie, cheat, steal, commit adultery, have wide-stances in the bathroom, anything you want. Then you look up into the sky and say "sorry about that Jesus". And then you can go and sin all you like again. Wash, rinse, repeat.
But apostasy is the unforgivable sin. It says so in the Bible three times (denial of the Holy Spirit). Similarly, any GOP member who ever sides with a democrat is forever sunk. Chris Christie can pretty much write off any chance of being president. If he ever runs, his footage of hugging Obama will be on the opposing campaign ads 24/7.
