This story doesn't make sense considering how normal rifle bullets work, does it? A typical round is FMJ, which 'could' explain a clean pass-through into another target, but it lessens the likeliness of fragmentation. A soft nose round can break apart, but then it also (usually) tends to mushroom and lose energy...making a second victim from a single shot unlikely. It seems like a farfetched scenario to me.
