Socrates definitely thought knowledge was important to see, and that humble is he who admits he knows nothing, and though he didn't precisely say it, I think we can assume that he would have thought idiots of people who, instead of admitting they knew nothing, invent a violent and bloodthirsty god to substitute for the knowledge they lack and kill those who disagree with the words they put in this puppet god's mouth.
