That's nice. Thankfully I am not a Moslem.
Quote:I've danced with girls, partied( Thank Allah I've never tasted alcohol), gotten loose, done all types of typical American teenager things.
Oh me too, but it was a long time ago and it was with plenty of alcohol.
Quote:Thankfully with the blessings of Allah, a lot of the previous faults have improved. And God willing, Allah will continue to help me to help myself become a person of better character. That's something we all need to focus on.
I'm too old to do it now too.
Quote:I've been there, I've done the things many of you do now. I know for a fact it doesn't stand an ounce in front of the true path of righteousness. The path of morality, the path of virtues, the path of patience, ethics, kindness, compassion, love of knowledge and wisdom. It does not compare.
Funny - I never imagined them as an either/or thing. Party on a Friday night - path of morality, the path of virtues, the path of patience, ethics, kindness, compassion, love of knowledge and wisdom on a Saturday morning, whilst shopping usually.
Quote:Those sexual encounters will end, at the end of the day who is there? Your spouse if you are married. Where does the alcohol go? Destroys your liver and takes thousands of lives each year. What does the dancing and partying do besides a wild and fun night? Lust, lustful thinking.
Ah, fond memories....liver still functioning strangely - maybe that was not drinking to excess too often.
Quote:Lust is perfectly ok in marriage. Islam encourages wife and husband to have rich sexual lives.
Oh good - the wife and I will sleep so much easier tonight, afterwards.
Quote:Ayatollah Khamenei "Woman is a flower. How evil of a man to treat a flower w/ violence and w/out appreciation."
" Woman is a candle to the family members. She is a source of comfort, reassurance, and tranquility
I don't think my wife would react well to being described as a flower - there are other things that should be treated without violence and with appreciation, like, I don't know, other human beings?
Quote:You can look at the countless quotes of Prophet Muhammad to treat women with respect.
Strangely I do this without ever having accessed a single quote from him. Maybe that's because its bleeding obvious?
Quote:Many Muslims do not do this. Indeed Allah will those who are unjust. There is no stone that will go unturned. The old men who marry young girls in countries such as Yemen today forcefully will surely get the wrath of Allah in this life or the next. Children are different today. They have the ability to be children which is new in human society for maybe a hundred years or less.
No Muslim country is perfect, there is a lot of work to be done but in fact those that are pious are in the minority. Those who are righteous, good of heart are not in the majority.
Strangely, when talking about humane societies there are not the ones that spring to mind.
Quote:The real question remains what type of lives do you choose to live.
Lives of indulgence and materialism which will run out, or one where you strive to improve yourself and increase your knowledge base, improve your manners. The life of materialism will not bring you an ounce of satisfaction as will devoting yourself to truth, honor, wisdom, knowledge, virtues, morality, kindness, sincerity, being genuine. The type of person that when you leave people wish you were there and wish you did not leave.
Again - why the false dichotomy? Both is hardly impossible.
Quote:Prophet Muhammad S.A.W
" The believer is like water. He purifies those all around with him."
Women are like flowers - believers are like water.....sounds like a golden shower invitation to me.
Quote:"I have not been sent except to perfect your moral traits."
Well that was a pointless trip then, wasn't it.
Quote:I realize many of you have socially liberal beliefs and one of the bigger issues is regarding homosexuality, for those that are heterosexuals as well.
This is something the media heavily promotes. In a ultra-capitalist society it's going to happen. The greatest citizen in the eyes of a capitalist is a bi-sexual because the bi-sexual has the possibility to consume and buy products marketed towards heterosexuals as well as homosexuals. For the heterosexual, the avenue of homosexual products and marketing is generally not a big money maker. They want the most avenues available for citizens.
Ya think? You don't think it is part and parcel of a developing morality that genuinely strives for tolerance - you know - beyond tolerating people that do exactly as you do, think exactly as you think and worship exactly as you do?
Quote:A homosexual makes the decision to engage in that activity with the person of the same gender. Thinking homosexual thoughts doesn't make you gay. But homosexual 'sex' is senseless. It is not something any wise person will ever partake in. This might be upsetting based on the conditioning you all receive but you do not want to be on an unfavorable side on the Day of Judgement.
Quran 3:134
"Who spend [in the cause of Allah ] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good"
Which is why Allah is so easy to reject. If homosexual sex is your thing - knock yourself out and follow the path of morality, the path of virtues, the path of patience, ethics, kindness, compassion, love of knowledge and wisdom the next morning, together with your lover if you want.
