This is not the representative Christian view but I see it thus. IF God made us and inbuilt into us certain basic desires and quirks. I don't believe he would do this only to frustrate us with a blanket ban! Alcohol is a good example. "mine maketh glad the heart of Man." When Jesus turned water to wine at the wedding feast he'd not have done it fo for the guests to stand around soberly talking.
As to homosexuality, it was (apparently) Gods design for the human being and he put the prostate... Well.... There. If his plan was for humans not to enjoy it, why leave it so handy? That's like leaving you X box in your kids room and forbidding him from playing on it!
All such pleasures can be overdone as I learned to my sorrow. When alcohol becomes something you hide behind it can do a lot of damage. But to make a blanket ban is not internally consistent.
