I guess the question is, why do they think they have the moral authority to judge and govern the sex lives of others when they can't even control their own sexuality enough to stay within the rule of law?
Probably because they experience a good deal of self loathing, and its much easier to transfer it onto other people than deal with their own issues.
Same reason its generally the most frightened kids who turn into bullies.
