I can see that your replies are well thought out and you asked questions that have plaqued myself and other christians all along. The truth is I couldn't answer all your questions without writing a book and I still don't know the mind of God. I wish we could sit down and have a long discussion about it because that's what it would take. You need to read the new testament to understand the old testament. The message of the bible is that because of our disobedience we are all guilty of God's wrath as demonstrated in the old testament bible, i.e. all those terrible things you brought up; and we don't have the power to make it right with God. He himself became man, in Jesus, and took on similar wrath as shown in the old testament, and in the process gave himself in payment for our sins. He made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
You have to take the bible as a whole to to understands it's parts. That's about the best I can do on a limited format such as this forum.
