I remember one time in 2nd or 3rd grade my mom told me I could stay home. So I did. The next day I went to school and the teacher asked where I was the previous day. I told her, "I played hookey." She looked shocked that I told her that, and explained that if I did it again she would send a cop to my house every day to pick me up. I didn't know that when you play hookey, you aren't supposed to tell your teacher about it.
