From a christian side I can almost see why they would think these things would matter to us; after all, their own holy book spends so much time not only instilling absurdly high levels of reverence in authority figures, but also stressing how everyone else is exactly the same as they are, how everyone really believes in the christian god, and how obviously any outward expression of disagreement is a sign of idolatry. The bible is basically a roadmap for this kind of fallacious thinking.
