I agree. This just sounds like trolling to me.
No, he would actually be making constructive points.
If I respond to someone with the intent of playing devil's advocate for them (something I have been doing much more frequently of late)... am i trolling?
Edit: though it is true that if his intent is only to provoke or insult: that would be trolling.
Well, even though i've dropped the idea, i had some thoughts along the lines of finding really stupid passages in the bible (should take me about 10 seconds) and discussing them and saying things like that I try and live by them. For example, the bit about killing children who disrespect their parents. Say my child has been swearing at me, and asking for advice whether i should stone them to death publicly or do it while they sleep... of course, this would get the mods down on my ass super fast, but I wouldn't call it trolling, after all its just spouting stuff that they are meant to believe (although they do like to cherry pick what to believe).
Kind of like in Red Dwarf where Rimmer explains that his parents were 7th Day Hoppists and on every 7th day they hopped everywhere, because of a misprint in their copy of the bible which said that the 3 greatest things were Faith, Charity, and Hop.
A finite number of monkeys with a finite number of typewriters and a finite amount of time could eventually reproduce 4chan.
